We don’t like to follow the crowd, so our way of serving our favourite ice cream is definitely not your usual. We like rich, creamy & thick Simply Ice Cream (fellow Kent based foodies) served with a tablespoon of our MightyFine Faversham Damson vinegar.
This vinegar is made from that unsung hero of the Kent hedgerow, the humble Damson, a sub-species of the plum. It’s bursting with fruity flavours & won us not one but 2 gold stars at the 2017 Great Taste Awards. It’s slightly sweetened, which is why it’s a natural partner for ice cream, it’s tangy, fruity flavour cuts right through the creaminess of the ice cream & is a match made in heaven.
Our Faversham Raspberry vinegar would be fabulous used like this too (it’s also a Great Taste Award winner!). Both the Raspberry & Damson vinegars have a whole range of uses in the kitchen, they can be mixed with soda for refreshing summer mocktails, used as dressings on salads, used for dipping with bread & oil, as marinades, in sauces & gravies & as fruity substitutes for balsamic vinegar.
