We are very excited about our newest project, working in partnership with Macknade Fine Foods we are launching Might Fine Things fresh and ready to eat range. The project has two aims very close to our hearts (and stomachs), namely creating delicious ready to eat foods showcasing our range of products and working closely with Macknade to use fresh produce they have a surplus of, or short dated products with the goal of reducing food wastage. Win win!
Food wastage is a huge problem in the UK, Love Food Hate Waste estimates that 2 Million tonnes of food is wasted every year by us Brits. In November 2017 new food regulations were rolled out, making changes to food labelling, for instance changing some items from Use by to Best Before dates, with a focus on clearer advice on how to store foods to encourage less wasteful habits. Currently LFHW is running a campaign to encourage people to toast stale bread, instead of binning it. Closer to home fellow Faversham businesses Boutilliers brewery have teamed up with their neighbours Wild Bread and brewed a Bread Pale Ale using surplus sourdough bread from the bake house, small acts add up to a bigger movement for change, it’s responsible and right to all do our bit.
Recipes for the Mighty Fine fresh range will be appearing here on our recipe page over the coming months, so you can also give them a go at home. Keep your eyes on our social media accounts too for regular updates. We had a brilliant day testing them all, we hope you love them as much too!
