Drinks for Mother’s

Here’s some inspiration to surprise your beautiful, brilliant mum this Mother’s Day, because as we all know, roses are red, chocolates are lovely, but Coxy’s Kent cocktails are boozy and bubbly! Hardworking Mum’s deserve a little bit of TLC, a touch of glamour and a lazy day on the 11th March this year.

Newton’s Bloody Spicy Mary
First up (for all you early risers) a great breakfast in bed cocktail, its our delicious spicy twist on a Sunday morning classic, the Bloody Mary. Serve on a tray with brunch, toast, eggs and a flourish, be warned though Mum may need a hand getting out of bed after this one. Steady on ladies!

 Makes 1
50ml Vodka
100ml Tomato juice (good quality will be tastier & silkier)
1 tbsp Newtons Ginger sweet chilli & honey sauce (or more to taste for a sweeter & hotter flavour)
3 drops Worcestershire sauce (or more to taste for a more savoury taste)
Squeeze lemon juice
Few twists of Black pepper
Pinch salt
Ice
Celery stick or Rosemary sprig to garnish

Method
Add all the ingredients plus some a little ice to a cocktail shaker and DON’T shake it, ‘roll’ it gently instead, which means turning the shaker over and over gently to mix the ingredients until combined, adjust the seasoning with more Ginger sweet chilli sauce, Worcestershire or lemon as needed. Too much ice means a watery Mary so go easy with it and the mixing. Finally strain into a tall glass and garnish.

Kentish Lavender Collins
This delicious delicate long cocktail showcases our Coxy’s Lavender Gin to full effect in a longer drink
Makes 1
50ml Coxy’s Lavender gin
25ml fresh lemon juice
1 tsp honey
Soda
Ice

Method
Shake the gin, lemon and honey well in a shaker with ice, add more honey to taste if needed, pour into a tall glass add a little ice and top up with soda to taste.

Coxy’s Twinkle
This is a gorgeous classy and grown up cocktail that you can adapt to taste, this recipe uses Coxy’s Elderflower & Honey liqueur, but Coxy’s Cherry brandy, Raspberry & Rose liqueur or Plum & Cardamom would all be great in this too.
Makes 1
25ml vodka
25ml Coxy’s Elderflower & Honey liqueur
75ml Champagne
Squeeze fresh lemon juice and zest for garnish

Method
Shake the vodka, liqueur of choice and a squeeze of lemon juice over ice in a cocktail shaker, strain into a flute glass and top up with the champagne, garnish with a curl of lemon zest.

Kentish Bramble
Our take on a boozy British berry based classic, floral, sharp & sweet, just like Mum!

25ml fresh lemon juice
50ml Coxy’s Blackcurrant & Liquorice or Raspberry & Rose liqueur
